EXS 611 - Research Methods in Exercise Science

Prepares students to read, comprehend, and critique research; retrieve scholarly articles; and develop research-related skills for further graduate education and professional work. Students will learn how to develop, write, and present a proposal for a research project. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Develop a research proposal which includes a summary of scientific literature related to a research question.
  2. Critique research in written and verbal formats.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of measurement concepts (e.g., validity, reliability, scales of measurement) and appropriate statistical procedures for their evaluation.
  4. Recognize ethical principles of research and their historical context.
