ATR 544 - Clinical Experience IV This supervised clinical experience is designed for full immersion into supervised athletic training practice. The discussion-based classroom component is designed to facilitate critical thinking and reflection on practice with regard to professional socialization and transition to a certified athletic trainer. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code S = offered in spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Practice ethical healthcare that aligns with the Board of Certification (BOC) Standards of Professional Practice, the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Code of Ethics, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Practice collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
- Appraise and integrate evidence-based practice as a foundation for the delivery of patient-centered care.
- Create professional development plan to maintain necessary credentials and promote on-going learning strategies.
- Articulate the professional development needs for newly credentialed athletic trainers during the transition to practice phase, and the importance of serving as mentor/preceptor for students and new professionals.
- Formulate a plan to engage in activities that advance the profession.
- Demonstrate critical components of all clinical education experiences as evaluated by preceptors to include but not limited to: professional responsibilities and patient-centered care.
