ATR 519 - Healthcare Intervention and Referral

Critical examination of the application of psycho-social interventions and systematic referral with athletes. Comprehensive investigation of current research and best practices related to psychosocial aspects of sport and athletes. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Create a coordinated plan of care from patient intake through transfer and/or discharge, to include referral when appropriate.
  2. Discuss empowering the patient to participate in their health care through the inclusion of patient education and self-care programs.
  3. Develop and implement an emergency action plan (EAP) to manage a patient with a behavioral health crisis.
  4. Construct a plan to identify, refer, and give support to patients with behavioral health conditions.
  5. Appraise and utilize evidence-based practice guidelines and trends.
  6. Interpret and implement practice patterns that adhere to standards and best practices.
