LIT 590 - Teaching and Learning Literacy in the Digital Age Candidates will focus on research and theory related to New Literacy Studies and the foundations of digital literacy while building on traditional literacies. Candidates will research digital literacies, will reflect on instructional practices and materials involving traditional and digital literacies, and learn how digital literacies can impact change in educational contexts. Candidates will learn and teach strategies to address multi-modal literacy needs and practices. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate understandings of the research and theory related to new literacies, digital literacy and critical digital literacy.
- Justify the criteria for implementing new literacies for formal, school-based teaching and learning.
- Demonstrate a critical and sophisticated evaluation of school-based practices and materials for implementing digital literacies K-12.
