Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Summarize and critically analyze the major components and history of special education legislation and regulation within the United States.
  2. Describe the rights that are secured to students with disabilities and their families under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  3. Demonstrate advocacy skills used to collaborate with and support children, families, and colleagues in understanding and navigating the processes of special education.
