SHH 683 - Auditory Disorders A study of the disorders of the auditory system including anatomical, physiological, perceptual and audiological manifestations of pathologies affecting hearing. Open to students in the M.S. program in communication sciences and disorders. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the physiological, perceptual, and audiological manifestations of pathologies affecting hearing.
- Describe an appropriate audiological test battery for the purpose of identifying specific hearing disorders.
- Discuss the impact of hearing loss type, severity, and configuration on speech/language development and communication ability.
- Discuss American Speech, Language, Hearing, Association scope of practice as it relates to speech-language pathologist role in screening and service provision for hearing impairments.
