SHH 672 - Fluency Disorders

Study of etiological views of stuttering and other fluency disorders. Emphasis on comprehensive evaluation procedures and treatment models for people who stutter, exploring issues within a developmental and multicultural framework. Open to students in the M.S. program in communication sciences and disorders. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify concepts and terminology associated with fluency disorders, including an objective definition of stuttering and theories about the onset and symptoms of stuttering.
  2. Explain and apply assessment procedures for individuals with fluency disorders.
  3. Discuss and practice general treatment approaches to fluency disorders.
