REC 553 - Practicum in Inclusive Recreation Services Through immersion in inclusive recreation programs and services, this practicum provides a solid foundation in the application of methods and best practices in inclusive recreation for people with disabilities and other differences in community-based settings. Knowledge areas gained include physical accessibility, administrative and programming practices and adaptive equipment. Prerequisite: REC 293 or consent of department. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code A = offered every semester
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Apply methods and best practices of inclusive recreation for people with disabilities and other differences in community-based recreation settings.
- Apply knowledge areas gained to include physical accessibility, administrative and programming practices, and adaptive equipment.
- Assess areas and programs for accessibility and inclusivity using the Inclusivity Assessment Tool.
- Train other college students on inclusion methods.
