EXS 549 - Advanced Motor Behavior Advanced coverage of motor behavior topics including: the learning process, human information processing, central contributions of motor control, attention and performance, skill acquisition practice considerations, and current issues in motor behavior with research implications. Prerequisite: EXS 297 or equivalent. Not open to students with credit for EXS 449. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code O = offered occasionally
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the historical development of motor behavior as a scientific discipline.
- Explain how information is processed and integrated in motor performance.
- Describe and apply the ability to use various motor behavior instruments and apparatus in the experimental study of motor behavior
- Describe how various factors influence skill acquisition, human movement and motor performance including practice considerations, augmented practice, attention and arousal, transfer considerations and individual differences.
- Describe the various applications of the speed-accuracy trade-off in linear speed, temporal speed, and central processing.
- Apply the knowledge learned to develop a basic research project to enhance understanding of a topic of interest.
