EDU 671 - Issues in Foundations of Education EDU 671 presents historical, philosophical, political economic and social foundations of education interpreted through seminal and contemporary research on issues of American schooling. Inquiry, critical thinking and writing will be focused on the thinking about and practices of education and schooling regarding diversity, equity, professionalism, leadership, public access and political control. Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the context, structure and function of American education in a global context.
- Address problems of maintaining and improving education as a component of a democratic society from both individual and organizational perspectives.
- Employ findings from historical, political, sociological and philosophical research on issues in education to situate their educational practice in a larger context.
