EDL 680 - Principal Leadership

The role of the principal, the change process, student guidance and management, legal aspects, curriculum supervision and models of decision-making and shared leadership. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Articulate the roles and responsibilities of the building principal, and the complexities of school management and improvement at multiple levels. 
  2. Describe the major patterns of school organization and delegated responsibilities within schools and across districts.
  3. Utilize data analysis, improvement planning, and State Education Department, School Administrators Association of New York State, and other web resources, as an essential function of leadership.
  4. Explain the varied and unique circumstances of individual schools within their respective districts, regions and BOCES with regard to student and staff demographics.
