ECO 380 - Behavioral Economics

An interdisciplinary approach to understanding the motivations of individual economic behavior by providing more realistic assumptions based on psychological foundations. Prerequisite: ECO 111. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Compare and contrast the principles and methods of behavioral economics to those of the neoclassical model.
  2. Provide a coherent psychological framework underpinning the findings of behavioral economics.
  3. Illustrate how behavioral models can improve and refine neoclassical models in terms of explanation and prediction.
  4. Explain the policy implications of behavioral economics, particularly where they deviate from neoclassical models.
