POL 412 - Qualitative Research in Political Science Study of qualitative research methods used in political science. Human subjects protocols, in-depth interviewing, focus groups and text analysis, participant observation will be covered. Prerequisite: POL 112. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain researchers' ethical responsibilities for human subjects.
- Code qualitative data using open coding, axial coding and selective coding techniques.
- Analyze qualitative data using content analysis, grounded theory and narrative analysis.
- Organize qualitative data and develop a research proposal that includes qualitative methodology.
