ATS 346 - Information Graphics

Illustrating charts, maps, navigation systems, signs and diagrams to visually present data. Creation of projects that communicate narratives and quantitative information. Use of narrative techniques, data visualization methods and visual experimentation to tell stories. Content will include both fictional and real-life collected data. Prerequisites: ATS 240 and ATS 241. Fulfills: LASR; PRES. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Effectively communicate information visually.
  2. Apply research methods such as observation, site analysis, interviews, document analysis, focus groups and historical research.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the ways in which art, media and culture affect each other and society-at-large.
  4. Implement visual and oral presentation skills applicable to the field of graphic design.
  5. Participate proficiently in oral discourse and evaluate an oral presentation according to the established criteria in visual communication.
