PSY 345 - Introduction to Brain and Behavior

An introduction to the anatomical structures and biological processes of the brain that determine behavior. Topics include: the acquisition and processing of sensory information, and the biological bases of complex behaviors such as learning, memory, sex, language, addiction and psychological disorders. Prerequisite: PSY 101, three additional hours in psychology. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the structures of the neuron and know their function.
  2. Identify and describe the basic anatomical structures of the brain and spinal cord.
  3. Describe, analyze, and evaluate research tools used to reveal brain-behavior relationships.
  4. Demonstrate basic knowledge on how the brain processes sensory information and executes complex behavioral functions.
