FRE 357 - Advanced French Proficiency

Oral work towards increased control of communicative functions. Focus on structures and strategies essential to effective description, comparison, past tense narration, reacting, recommending, expressing opinions and preferences, hypothesizing and speaking in the future. Emphasis will be on raising the student's oral proficiency level. Prerequisite: FRE 202 or above. Fulfills: LASR. (1 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Ask pertinent questions, relate opinions and preferences in different situations in French while changing from one communicative function to another.
  2. Report on past personal events in paragraph-length utterances in French.
  3. Assess a problem, devise a solution and resolve it through the use of different advanced vocabulary and grammatical structures in French.
  4. Debate and hypothesize in different topics through the use of several grammatical structures (future, conditional and subjunctive) in paragraph-length utterances in French.
