SPM 279 - The Business of Professional Football

An overview of the management strategies and business models utilized by the teams, league and partners of professional football. There will be significant analysis of the legal, marketing and broadcasting influence on the league. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Critique the marketing concepts, theories and tools of professional football.
  2. Examine the leadership strategies and styles utilized within the sport.
  3. Examine the influence of factors such as socio-economic, gender, ethnicity, race and disability in sport participation and management.
  4. Articulate the principles of ethical behavior in the management of the league and teams.
