POL 441 - Comparative Public Policy Theories and methods of comparative public policy research, contrasting how public policy issues are handled in countries from the global north and/or global south. Countries confront similar policy problems, yet approaches to dealing with these issues are often distinctive. Areas considered may include economic, health, environmental and human rights policy. Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify major concepts, topics, and theoretical perspectives from the field of comparative public policy.
- Analyze public policy from a comparative perspective, applying basic principles of comparative research methodology.
- Compare major aspects of an area of public policy across two or more similar countries.
- Demonstrate factual knowledge and analytical insight on the topic of public policy both verbally and in written form.
