POL 308 - Environmental Law Contemporary environmental law, beginning with common-law doctrine on property rights, continuing on to the policies adopted by Congress and the federal judiciary since the 1960s. Further topics include the political and social contexts of environmental reform and the limits of legal innovations designed to protect the environment. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.) Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe significant developments in U.S. environmental law and policies (e.g. laws governing water quality, toxic substances, waste management, or hazardous releases).
- Explain the relevance of environmental rules and administrative practices in the rehabilitation of a Superfund site.
- Explain the significance of federalism to the application of environmental law.
