POL 264 - Comparative Politics: Latin America

Comparative analysis of issues, problems of politics and institutions in Latin America. Attention directed to political dynamics, processes in selected political systems with emphasis on contemporary period. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge about major concepts, themes, and theoretical perspectives from the field of comparative Latin American politics.
  2. Analyze Latin American politics from a comparative perspective, applying insights from relevant comparative and/or social science theories.
  3. Contrast the distinctive histories, political institutions, economic systems, and cultures of Latin American countries and regions.
