GER 201 - Intermediate German I

Continued development of the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing with emphasis on developing communicative strategies at the intermediate level. Expanding cultural knowledge with exposure to literature. Prerequisite: GER 102 or equivalent. Fulfills: GE 9; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Comprehend and produce spoken German at a level commensurate with the novice high level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in listening and speaking.
  2. Comprehend and produce written German at a level commensurate with the novice high level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in reading and writing.
  3. Analyze and interpret German culture in terms of products, practices, and perspectives at a level commensurate with the intermediate level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in intercultural communication.
