EXS 296 - Field Experience in Fitness Development II

An intermediate field experience for the kinesiology: fitness development (FIT) major. Practical knowledge and hands-on experience by assisting with beginning through advanced resistance training and cardiovascular fitness programs. Prerequisite: EXS 196. (1 cr. hr.)
Frequency code A = offered every semester

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate how to teach exercises for all major muscle groups.
  2. Identify how to safely and properly instruct use of strength training equipment including axis of rotation and proper adjustments.
  3. Describe how to act as a fitness professional while providing for the safety of all patrons within the fitness facility.
  4. Evaluate functional training and exercise progressions for all major muscle groups.
  5. Explain how to read and write physical descriptions of exercises including visuals.
