Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the context, structure, and function of schools in the contemporary United States.
  2. Apply philosophical, social, and historical perspectives in analyzing the complex problems facing schools.
  3. Identify key theoretical perspectives on U.S. education policy and school reform initiatives, and draw conclusions about their strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Articulate a personal philosophy of educational practice and explain how this perspective is situated in broader theoretical contexts.
