CIN 493 - Foreign Films in Translation

A study of international films and the nature of translation in global contexts. Course focus varies in terms of period of analysis and/or region of origin. Films vary. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Articulate the importance of translation in the creation of meaning in film.
  2. Describe how historical, cultural, and other contexts shape understanding in film.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of domestic and foreign films from aesthetic and technical perspectives.
