CHI 201 - Intermediate Chinese I

Continued development of the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing with emphasis on developing communicative strategies at the second-year level. Expanding cultural knowledge. Prerequisite: CHI 102 or equivalent. Fulfills: GE 9; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Comprehend and produce spoken Chinese at a level commensurate with the novice mid level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in listening and speaking.
  2. Comprehend and produce written Chinese at a level commensurate with the novice low level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in reading and writing.
  3. Analyze and interpret Chinese culture in terms of products, practices, and perspectives at a level commensurate with the intermediate level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in intercultural communication.
