CHE 431 - Physical Chemistry I

Kinetic theory of gases, thermodynamics, introductory quantum chemistry, chemical bonding. Molecular spectroscopy. Not open to students with credit for PHY 531. Prerequisites: CHE 228, 278; and PHY 202, which may be taken concurrently. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Apply qualitative and quantitative methods to questions of chemical kinetics.
  2. ​Apply qualitative and quantitative methods to questions of chemical thermodynamics.
  3. Predict and explain chemical processes and data based on the principles of chemical kinetics and thermodynamics.
