CAP 351 - Advanced Website Development

Comprehensive look at website design and development. Focus on Web standards and accessibility using a project-based approach. Topics include HTML5/XHTML, cascading style sheets, FTP, Web hosting, Flash, AJAX, XML and design for mobile technology. Prerequisites: CAP 100, CAP 251 or permission of the CAP coordinator. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Develop advanced multimedia websites using effective, user-centered, and inclusive design principles.
  2. Create, test, and debug website code using industry-standard or emerging development tools.
  3. Deploy files to a server, utilize a remote web host, and adhere to copyright guidelines.
  4. Implement advanced styles and responsive layouts for mobile devices and desktop environments.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of web standards and systems including the front-end, server-side, database, security, and back-end programming components.
