CAP 204 - Programming with Visual Basic

Introduction to program design and problem solving using the Visual Basic programming language. Topics include: variables and data types, selection statements, repetition structures, procedures, functions, arrays and strings. Prerequisite: CAP 100 or permission of the CAP coordinator. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competency in using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
  2. Develop algorithms to solve computational problems.
  3. Plan and code an object-oriented application with a graphical user interface.
  4. Declare variables, assign data and incorporate various data types.
  5. Implement sequence, selection, and repetition control structures.
  6. Create independent sub-procedures and display proficiency with functions.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of arrays and sorting stored values.
