ATR 421 - Athletic Injury Risk Management

Prevention, protection and initial management and referral of injuries occurring in athletics and with physically active individuals. Students will be exposed to various risk management concerns and issues. Prerequisite: BIO 301. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code S = offered in spring

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe appropriate prevention, protection, and initial management of injuries/conditions occurring in physically active athletes/clients.
  2. Implement evidence-based decisions to identify injuries and conditions of athletes/clients that may require referral to a medical professional.
  3. Create and discuss policies that pertain to areas of risk management.
  4. Interpret and implement practice patterns that adhere to standards and best practices.
