ATR 323 - Advanced Clinical Skills

This course will provide students with the opportunity to develop the specific athletic training clinical proficiencies that are outlined in the Athletic Training Education Competencies. In preparation of these skills, competence of subject matter will be verified through the teaching, practice and subsequent evaluation of outcomes documented over time. Prerequisite: ATR 317. (1 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the principles and concepts of body movement, including normal osteokinematics, and arthrokinematics.
  2. Integrate clinical reasoning skills to formulate an appropriate clinical diagnosis for common musculoskeletal conditions.
  3. Incorporate the concept of differential diagnosis into the examination process.
  4. Implement standard techniques and procedures for the clinical examination of common injuries, conditions, including functional assessment and selective tissue testing techniques.
  5. Assess and interpret findings from a physical examination that is based on the patient's clinical presentation.
