ATH 320 - History and Theory of Digital Arts

An exploration of the artist's role in both using and analyzing the new media. A critical historical review of the impact of the digital revolution. Prerequisites: ATH 121, 122. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Define key concepts, principles, terms, and relationship of major historical, cultural, and technological advancements and events, which shaped the development of the graphic design field.
  2. Identify main digital artists and designers.
  3. Apply a basic art and design vocabulary.
  4. Analyze and critique digital art work.
  5. Write effectively in the art history discipline.
