Graduate-level analysis of African American literature with an emphasis on a specific genre, literary movement, and/or critical approach. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Analyze and interpret works of African American literature and culture.
  2. Demonstrate advanced close reading skills.
  3. Investigate foundational methods, histories, debates, and concepts in the analysis of African American literature.
  4. Perform research in African American literature.
