PED 657 - Secondary Physical Education Field Experience

Prepares teacher candidates in planning, teaching and evaluating strategies for secondary physical education. Includes supervised field experiences in secondary physical education, grades 6-12. Prerequisites: PED 656; current first aid and CPR/AED certification; cumulative 3.0 grade point average. S, U grades assigned. (1 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Apply common and specialized content and scientific and theoretical foundations for the delivery of an effective 6-12th grade physical education program.  
  2. ​Identify how individuals differ in their approaches to learning and create appropriate instruction adapted to individual differences based on information from appropriate services and resources. 
  3. Identify individual and group motivation and behavior by creating a safe (physical, emotional and psychological) learning environment that supports and encourages positive personal and social behaviors, active engagement in learning, intrinsic motivation and learner reflection.
