HIS 637 - Cultural History of Latin America

Examination of major historical trends through culture in modern Latin America with focus of how Latin American societies came to terms with historical processes and events. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the historical significance of key themes, events, and people relevant to the cultural history of Latin America.
  2. Assess the persuasiveness of historians' claims about the past.
  3. Identify the implications of historiographical innovations and debates for narratives about the cultural history of Latin America.
