SPM 680 - Strategic Management A capstone course exploring the development of sport management policy through a strategic management framework and process. Students are expected to integrate material and information presented in other courses as a foundation and means to prepare a major policy paper in the student's area of specialty or interest. This seminar-style course requires students to analyze specific issues and problems through case study and class presentations. Prerequisite: Successful completion of 12 graduate credit hours in the major, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code S = offered in spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the concepts, theories, and tools of strategic management.
- Evaluate a variety of leadership strategies and styles utilized in different organizations and segments within the sport industry.
- Identify the influence of factors such as socio-economic, gender, ethnicity, race, disability and sexual orientation in sport participation and management.
- Integrate relevant concepts and principles from previous courses in sport management.
