PED 636 - Student and Program Evaluation in Adapted Physical Education

This course provides students with an understanding of the comprehensive service delivery model and factors that contribute to curricular development as well as knowledge related to assessment and evaluation. The lab experience will be focused on developing a "top-down plan" for an individual with a disability. (4 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe the strategies needed for consultation and collaboration in assessing and long-term planning for individuals with disabilities. 
  2. Apply the major approaches to assessment with application to children with disabilities and the requirements regarding assessment as found in the federal law IDEIA (2004). 
  3. Evaluate assessment data when making decisions regarding the IEP process, present level of performance, program planning and/or curricular development. 
  4. Develop an IEP and/or physical activity plan based on individual assessment and be acquainted with current technology/software and demonstrate techniques for communicating achievement to colleagues, individuals and families. 
  5. Evaluate and advocate for the accessibility and access to community and school physical activity environments and quality physical education programs.
