HIS 646 - Issues in American Labor and Working-Class History

This course is designed to introduce graduate students to the historiography of American working-class history, which is broadly defined as the historical experience of wage-earning people. Although the course will move chronologically, it is not meant to be a survey but rather to highlight particular issues in the field. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the historical significance of key themes, events, and people relevant to American labor and working-class history.
  2. Assess the persuasiveness of historians' claims about the past.
  3. Identify the implications of historiographical innovations and debates for narratives about American labor and working-class history.
