HIS 645 - Law and Society in Russia and the Soviet Union History and historiography of major issues in Russia and Soviet Union: An intensive examination of how law and social development have interacted historically in Russia and the U.S.S.R. Prerequisite: bachelor's degree in history/social studies. (3 cr. hr.)

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the historical significance of key themes, events, and people relevant to Russian and Soviet legal history.
- Assess the persuasiveness of historians' claims about the past.
- Identify the implications of historiographical innovations and debates for narratives about Russian and Soviet legal history.
