HIS 645 - Law and Society in Russia and the Soviet Union

History and historiography of major issues in Russia and Soviet Union: An intensive examination of how law and social development have interacted historically in Russia and the U.S.S.R. Prerequisite: bachelor's degree in history/social studies. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the historical significance of key themes, events, and people relevant to Russian and Soviet legal history.
  2. Assess the persuasiveness of historians' claims about the past.
  3. Identify the implications of historiographical innovations and debates for narratives about Russian and Soviet legal history.
