EDU 631 - Curriculum Construction in Health Education

Based upon current theories of education applied to school health education. Opportunities to work on individual curriculum problems at any school level. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code A = offered every semester

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Complete a health education needs assessment of a local school district for establishing priorities for curriculum development.  
  2. Develop a scope and sequence chart for health education skills and knowledge to be utilized as the foundation for a curriculum.  
  3. Combine best practices, the New York State Health Education Standards, and the National Health Education Standards into the curriculum development process.   
  4. ​Complete a health education unit that includes appropriate objectives, educational strategies, and assessments.
