EDL 685 - Facilities Maintenance and Management

The management, facilitation and design of school facilities, resources and assets, including state and federal regulations and the management and supervision of capital projects. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the key variables that influence facilities planning and how facilities planning serves the mission of a school district.
  2. Articulate a critical understanding of how legal authority influences administration of facilities.
  3. Describe the key elements, including potential obstacles and challenges, of a successful school capital project.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the roles of the architect, construction management firms, State Education Department, and other consultants with facility projects.
