REC 538 - Design and Administration of Therapeutic Recreation Services

In-depth examination of the design and administration of therapeutic recreation services delivered in health and human service settings. Focus on planning, organizing, funding and managing therapeutic recreation services. Analysis of standards, legislation, policies, issues and trends that affect service delivery. Prerequisite: REC 533 or consent of department. Not open to students with credit for REC 438. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Summarize issues surrounding professionalism including standards of practice, credentialing and codes of ethics within therapeutic recreation.
  2. Select an evaluation plan for therapeutic recreation service at the participant and program level and interpret data to improve quality of services.
  3. Debate the benefits of professional involvement. 
  4. Summarize entry-level knowledge of regulations and standards in the therapeutic recreation field.
