CHE 227 - General Chemistry I Lecture

Atomic theory, structure, chemical bonding. Application of thermodynamic, structural and kinetic considerations to inorganic systems. Electrochemistry, quantitative analysis, other current topics. Fulfills: GE 2; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code A = offered every semester

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Apply mathematics to solve quantitative chemical problems involving reaction stoichiometry, thermochemistry, solution concentrations, and ideal gas behavior.
  2. Describe how the structures of atoms and compounds affect their behavior, and how they result in real-world phenomena.
  3. Explain qualitative chemical concepts and trends involving reactivity, molecular shape, states of matter, and chemical reactivity.
