SPM 450 - Disability and Sport Examination of the critical contemporary issues associated with the organization, governance and management of sport for people with disabilities. Emphasis will be placed on the historical, sociological and cultural contexts, as well as the practical environments in which sport opportunities for athletes with disabilities have evolved. Particular emphasis will be placed on a service-learning component designed to provide students with a "working understanding" of the core issues facing sport managers and sport scientists working with athletes with disabilities. Not open to freshmen or sophomores. Also listed as EXS 450. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Summarize principles of disability studies.
- Identify how to include athletes with disabilities at different levels of sport.
- Distinguish the difference between adaptive and inclusive sport opportunities.
- Discuss opportunities available to people with disabilities in mainstream sport environments.
