SOC 345 - Drugs and Society An overview of the sociological study of drug use, which includes a brief history of drug use and drug control, theoretical explanations for drug use and addiction, an examination of drug subcultures, and the role of illicit drugs in organized crime and street crime. Examines societal responses to drug use, including drug education, drug testing, and drug treatment, as well as prohibition, legalization, and decriminalization.
