REC 280 - Programming in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services

Introduction to programming principles and techniques for parks, recreation and leisure service settings. Particular focus on the design and implementation of recreation programs. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Design and implement service-learning programs in the community.  
  2. Demonstrate the design and writing of measurable program objectives.  
  3. Apply various programming tools and techniques, including Gantt charts, program budgeting, scheduling and promotion. 
  4. Analyze activities, make choices that will meet participant needs, and develop capacities to assess and critique present and future programs for a specific group and setting.
