CRM 463 - Criminological Theory

A critical appraisal of classical and contemporary theories of crime, with special emphasis on the historical development of such theories, their central assumptions and their practical applications. Prerequisite: ANT 102 or SOC 100 or 150. Also listed as SOC 463. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to critically appraise both classical and modern theories of crime.
  2. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to apply modern theories of crime to policies aimed at ameliorating the negative impact of socially harmful behavior.
