ANT 234 - Anthropology of Gender A comprehensive approach examining gender, race, sexual orientation and discrimination against these various social groups, using evidence from early human contexts to present-day cultures. Focus is primarily on non-Western cultures with some exploration of North American societies. Fulfills: GE 11; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe how gender categories and norms vary cross-culturally.
- Describe biological variation as it relates to sex and gender.
- Describe sex and gender as cultural constructs.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how gender bias is a cultural invention.
