FSA 560 - Supporting Students with Autism

Study of core characteristics associated with individuals labeled as being on the autism spectrum, exploration of controversies related to autism, and consideration of how perceptions about the label have changed over time. The course includes exposure to theoretical frameworks, the personal perspectives of autistic people and their families, and practical strategies to apply in classrooms to support the successful inclusion of autistic children and adolescents, as well as other "neurodiverse" students. (3 cr. hr.)
