Advanced study of the interaction of peoples and societies along the Silk Road in Central Asia from 800-1500. Special topics include: Patterns of commerce, formation of ethnic identity, development of Islamic civilization, forms of statehood. Prerequisite: Either HIS 100, 101, 110 or 111. Fulfills: LASR.
