ATS 108 - Fibers I - Surface Design Introduces basic techniques of creating surface design on textiles; sewing, dyeing, resists, embroidery, silk screen, etc., to create art cloth. Emphasis is placed on creative problem-solving. Technical exploration, supported by lectures, critiques and research of historical precedent and contemporary practice promote individual exploration of fiber as an expressive artistic medium. Fulfills: GE 8; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
